World’s First: Siemens Gamesa Makes Recyclable Offshore Wind Turbine Blades

On September 7, 2021, Siemens Gamesa announced that it had made the world’s first recyclable wind turbine blades at its blade factory in Aalborg, Denmark..

The first six recyclable blades which have been manufactured are 81 meter long and are now ready for commercial use offshore.

According to the wind turbine maker, these recyclable turbine blades will be installed and monitored at RWE’s Kaskasi offshore wind farm in Germany. Kaskasi is expected to go online in 2022.

Apart from RWE, Siemens Gamesa is working with EDF Renewables and wpd with the aim to deploy several sets of Recyclable Blade at their future offshore wind farms.
